Who Am I?

Hello everyone! My name is Lovelle Leonardo, and I am currently a college student at College of Southern Nevada pursuing an Accounting Degree. I am a Libra and absolutely love the arts. Any arts will do, including fashion, paintings, expressionism, poetry, pottery, etc. One of my favorite quotes by Professor John Martin from UCL is, "Life depends on science, but the arts make it worth living." One of the most profound pieces of art that I've discovered so far is artificial intelligence facing difficulty in recreating a human hand. Yet, the earliest forms of human art are handprints placed on cave walls. This art just captures the intimate detail of human identity that artificial intelligence lacks.

I am going to be honest. My first impression of IS101 was a bit intimidating. The assignments are unlike the usual class structure I am used to. The usual class structure I've experienced during my previous college semesters usually goes by reading the syllabus, purchasing a textbook, doing chapter readings, doing homework either from external websites or directly through Canvas, and then taking the midterms and the final exam. However, this class sets a structure for students to learn about Digital Literacy through experience. So far in my first 3 weeks of school, I have learned how to organize my emails, check my emails daily, create a professional signature, create a blog, be mindful of my digital footprint, and know the ins and outs of a computer through LabSim. I used to attend UNLV, and the campus differences between CSN and UNLV are a bit different. I like how CSN tends to be more laid back and has a good amount of greenery.

For LabSim assignment 2.1.1 Desktop and Mobile Devices, this topic teaches the difference between desktop and mobile devices. Desktop deals with hardware that includes a computer, while mobile devices are used for convenience, despite the lack of software they have compared to a desktop.

  1. Yes, what artificial intelligence lacks is sentience (self awareness). I think sooner or later, AI tools will get to the point where they can render human hands with five fingers consistently. Whether AI tools will evolve beyond that...

Hmm... "the arts make it worth living", indeed!

Thank you for appreciating my structure for students to learn through experience :-)

Creating email Inbox rules to declutter one's Inbox, using email signatures to bolster level of professionalism, forming a habit to check one's email daily to stay connected, and leaving a mindful digital footprint on the world wide web via a blog are just the highlights from the first three weeks. Wait until we get to Microsoft Excel and go beyond the commonly used functions such as Sum, Average, Count, Min, and Max.

I think you will have a fun journey through IS101-3005, Spring 2026, Lovelle ^_^

  2. Hi Lovelle, I am actually a little jealous because art is probably my weakest subject. Back in kindergarten or grade school, I almost failed because no one could understand what I was drawing. If it is a stick figure, I can manage, but actual drawing with pen and paper is really difficult for me. If it is computer based like copy paste, Photoshop, or even AI art, I can do that, but traditional drawing just frustrates me. I honestly cannot always tell whether art is good or bad. I just know I like cute things like furry animals, dogs, and cats. When it comes to classical statues or museum level art, I get lost. I respect people who understand and create that kind of art because it is something I never figured out.

  3. Hello Lovelle! Before I start, may I just say that your name sounds lovely (No pun intended) haha. I like the quote that you chose. Art indeed makes it worth living. My favorite form of art is music; the downside was getting tinnitus from too much use of earbuds and music. Oops.
I also do agree with IS101 being intimidating at first. Besides the amount of stuff we had to get done, our professor came off as an intimidating, passionate-about-his-craft, perfectionist made me think we were all bound to fail or barely pass. So I don't blame you for thinking that way.

  4. Hi Lovelle, I enjoyed reading your post. I like the quote you included about science and the arts because it really shows how both are important in life. Your point about early human handprints and how artificial intelligence struggles to recreate hands was very interesting and made me think about how unique human creativity really is. I also agree that IS101 feels different from other classes because it focuses more on learning through experience rather than just reading a textbook. It’s cool that you’ve already learned things like managing email and understanding digital footprints, since those are useful skills outside of school too.

  5. Hi Lovelle! I love your perspective, and I definitely agree with your quote. I’m more of a science girl myself sometimes, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring the arts. In fact, I even took an art class last summer and really enjoyed it! I also didn’t know that AI struggles to recreate a human hand, that’s such a fascinating observation.

  6. Hello Lovelle, I'm happy to see we have something in common! I absolutely adore art in all forms, I personally enjoy physically sketching and digital art the most. Also consuming other people's art is one of my favorite pastimes, and you're quote really resonated with me. I agree that this class started out intimidating, I also wasn't familiar with the structure at first. I've learned many things I wouldn't have paid attention to otherwise.

  7. Hey Lovelle, I liked how you talked about learning digital literacy through experience in IS101. Skills like organizing emails, managing your digital footprint, and understanding device types are really important in information systems since they help people use technology more effectively in both school and work.

  8. I enjoyed reading your blog post. I agree that this class is intimidating at first because of the load of assignments that you are required to work on. However, it encourages you to push forward and find ways to get tasks done on time. Furthermore, planning out the upcoming week helps you manage your time.

  9. Art is the best thing next to science and they can co-exist beautifully and that's what makes life worth living! I am wondering is it because of Wall Street that got you in accounting? I also agree that IS-101 with Prof. Wu has structure and that's the best thing about it!

  10. Hi Lovelle! Out of all the arts you mentioned, which one is your favorite or the one you enjoy the most? I love how broad your taste is, it’s really inspiring!

  11. Lovelle, your background in the arts provides a unique philosophical lens through which you analyze the integration of digital literacy and accounting, particularly through your insightful observation of the symbolic contrast between primitive human handprints and the limitations of modern artificial intelligence.

  12. Lovelle, I love that you included one of your favorite quotes into this blog as it was never something required for you to do yet you shared something like that with us. Your worries was just the same as mine enrolling in this class as it was genuinely the norm, but to see that isn't the case is a relief. This a well-structured class that is easy to pass if you do what's asked of you.

  13. Hi Lovelle, I think I'm on track to securing my own "drip" now lol, I have a kind of fashion I go for and I'm starting to pick up on it now, I like the way certain T shirts give off the boxy vibe when I wear them, not looking too tight on me or too big and baggy, but just the right amount of baggy and boxy:) It makes me feel like I know how to dress and I'm in the trenches when I need to do laundry because all of my drip is needing to be washed. About your 2.1.1 I appreciate that my phone is convenient I wouldn't want to be carrying a printer sized phone and am glad that my computer is capable of having a higher processing power since I like to game. May we secure the drip and may you continue to have good luck on your academic pursuits!

  14. Hi Lovelle, just curious why'd you go from UNLV to CSN? I'm currently pursuing an Accounting degree and plan on transferring to UNLV after my 2-year AB degree. Is it for the 150 credits needed for the CPA exam? Good luck with your college journey, our accounting journey seems scary if I'm being honest but I think we can do it!

  15. Hi Lovelle, I really like that quote about life and art, it really makes all the AI stuff we see a lot today very superficial compared to the human identity. Ever since the big AI boom, there have been a lot of stuff we take for granted, like real human voices and real people in videos instead of AI generated. We really need to maintain our human roots to create art the real way. Have a great semester!

  16. Hi Lovelle, art is so nice especially because you can express yourself with art and it can be interpreted completely differently but neither definition is incorrect. Accounting is fun when you get past the basics, I did not favor it upon my first course. Last semester I took managerial accounting and really liked it. I have recently considered getting a job in accounting and finance. What got you into the pursuit of numbers instead of art or science?
